The imposing exterior of Plas Newydd makes the house look quite large, but as you can see from the contrast with the visitors in this photo, looks are deceiving. It feels small upon entering. The ceilings, predictably for the age of the house, are low, and the rooms are not large.

The front door and porch of Plas Newydd, whose completion delighted The Ladies so much that they held a “porch warming” party for selected friends. The entrance provides the first close up view of the gothic carvings which so dominate the interior.
