As you can see there are no shutters on the windows, belying the screenplay scene where Sarah closes the shutters at Eleanor’s death to signal the mourners waiting outside in the cold, dark evening of her passing.

These embroidered slippers date from The Ladies’ era. Sarah, in life as well as in the screenplay, loved needlework. Hopefully its pursuit allowed her mind to be “filled with dreams, and plans, and happy thoughts,” as she says when a child in one of her early screenplay scenes.
