Anna
M. Curren
A native of St. John's,
Newfoundland, Anna grew up in an Anglo-Irish, post Victorian British
culture, a fact which is deeply reflected in her dramatic and exciting,
Love, above the reach of time.
Initially educated as
a nurse, Anna received an RN from Montreal's Royal Victoria Hospital,
a BN from Nova Scotia's Dalhousie University and an MA from Cal
State University, Long Beach.
Anna started her writing
career to fill a textbook void she identified while an Associate Professor of Nursing at
Long Beach City College. Her first text, Math for Meds, now
in its 10th edition, became an immediate leader in its subject throughout
the USA and Canada. Her newest text, Dimensional Analysis for
Meds, is in its 4th edition. Anna's texts have sold in excess of one million
copies continent-wide.
Anna currently lives in San Diego, California, where she is very active in the GLBT
community. In addition, Anna has served since 2001 on the National Board of SLDN,
Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, a Washington, DC based non-profit organization
that provides free legal services for GLB military personnel being kicked out under
the 1993 policy of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell." SLDN has promoted sponsorship of the
Congressional "Military Readiness Enhancement Act" which will overturn this costly
and harmful policy. Anna is an active member of Soroptimists International of
San Diego, the San Diego Women's Club, and the 905-year-old chivalric Order of St. John
of Jerusalem, in which she has been promoted to the rank of Commander. She is a lover
of opera and classical music, and has traveled and hiked extensively in many remote
and civilized parts of the world. |
